PERMITS
Permits are required for all new construction or placement of structures.
This requirement is to insure that minimum zoning codes and safety requirements are complied with.

This requirement is to insure that minimum zoning codes and safety requirements are complied with.

Building Permit Fee's are based on estimated construction costs and square footage of buildings.

Electrical Permit
Fee's are set by the Selectmen and are presently $30.00 for a basic permit and $75.00 for a new home.

Plumbing Permit Fee's are set by state statute. Current internal plumbing permits are based on the number of fixtures used and is set presently at $10.00 per fixture. The minimum fee is $40.00.

Septic System Permit fees are also set by state statute and are based on the complexity of the system installed.

A permit for a conventional system to serve a 3 bedroom home would cost $250.00.  New systems require a fee of $15.00 to the Maine DEP.

Permits are not required when replacing siding or roof materials, or when performing periodic repairs.

If you are replacing a deck, you do not need a permit, HOWEVER, if you enlarge your deck by repair or replacement you will need a permit.

Swimming Pools, whether above or below ground require special fencing and barriers. Be sure to contact the Code Enforcement Office prior to any site work for swimming pools.
