Squad 61 is a unique piece of apparatus that serves as a heavy rescue and responds to a wide variety of emergency calls and has equipment to handle a variety of situations. Squad 61 carries the Jaws Of Life, air bags, struts, self contained breathing apparatus, a cascade air system, cribbing, and numerous other pieces of equipment used on emergency fire and rescue scenes. Squad 61 is a critical piece of apparatus to have on the scene of a fire or motor vehicle crashes because it provides the capability to refill air bottles for breathing air when firefighters enter the fire. On motor vehicle accidents Squad 61 provides the necessary tools to extricate victims from their vehicle who are injured and entrapped.
