TELEVISED SELECT BOARD MEETING

Wednesday, May 23, 2018 5:00PM at the Hollis Town Hall

Attendees: Rita Perron, Roger Hicks, Chris Young, Rita Anderson, Vera Littlefield, Bev Harris, John Rondeau

1. Meeting called to order by Hicks at 5:00PM.

2. Chris Young, Fire Chief provided an update on Engine 1. It requires some extensive body work and maintenance that is very costly but if completed can provide many more years of use.  A new Fire Engine would cost up to $500,000. He provided copies of estimates from Scarborough Public Works to provide maintenance/mechanical work and Weirs for the body work that total close to $22,000. Young is requesting to have vehicle body work completed by Weirs which has a specialized body shop. Scarborough provides regular mechanics and can only do minor body work.  On the motion of Perron/Hicks the Select Board approved the purchase order and use TIF funds. Passed 2-0 and signed by the Select Board.

3. Old Business

    a. Recycling: Perron reports that Town is charged $40/ton for recycling is contaminated by more than 5%.  She will provide residents literature on what is recyclable and what is not to residents - flyers available at the Town Hall.  

    b. Community Building Update: Perron reports the Community Building construction on the main floor will begin shortly. Tile has been chosen for floors, trim, windows are ordered, safety doors are in will be installed soon. 

4. New Business

    a. 5-member Select Board Ordinance research committee: Perron reports that the committee has been formed to draft the ordinance to put on the November 2018 ballot. New form of government, if passed would go into effect June 2019. Select Board is looking for 5 members on the committee. If you are interested, please contact Bennet Flinner at 929-8552 x26.
