Minutes for Select Board Televised Meeting

1.Select Board Meeting opened by Seely at 7:00PM
 
2. Old Business - None
     
3. New Business
 
      a. Purchase Orders, Warrant and Payroll Totals: Read by Seely, Warrant last week- $18,339, Payroll last week -$10,983

      b. Statistics for CEO, ACO and FD/EMS : Salmon Falls Library enrolled 3 new patrons from Hollis; Fire and Rescue Dept- 23 medical rescue calls; Animal Control - No animals hospitalized, one dog was euthanized, no animals hit or killed by other means.

      c. Correspondence - Read by Seely:
 
- Attn All Hollis Residents: The Town of Hollis has begun their re-evaulation and assessment of property taxes. These will be completed by Bob Dolloff and Shirley Bartlett.
 
- 100th Birthday Festival at the Hollis Center Baptist Church 388 Hollis Road to be held July 22, 2017 from 10am to 3:00pm. All residents of Hollis and surrounding communities are invited to this free, family oriented event. 
 
- The Hollis Pirate Fest is scheduled for Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Hollis Sports Complex. Please contact Debbie Tefft at Parks and Rec to volunteer for this family fun day! Keep checking the Town website for additional information regarding activities and the 5K Race, as they become available.
 

- Effective July 1, 2017, the Town of Hollis will implement new hours for the purpose of viewing and obtaining copies of Public Records from the Town Assessor and Code Enforcement Office:

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

12:00 - 3:00 PM

Wednesday

4:00 - 7:00 PM

During these hours, a Town employee will be present to assist in retrieving and photocopying requested documents.  General access to the files containing Public Records will no longer be permitted by the general public.

6. Public Comments and Questions: State Representative Don Marean welcomed newly elected Select Board member Rita Perron and gave an update for State House News: Budget was passed in the early morning hours of July 4, 2017, with a 2-5 day extension. They will be going back next week to clean up loose ends on Bills. $7.1B budget was passed with no tax increases. Increase in education budget of $161.5M brings the Bill to 55% in education reform. MSAD 6 will receive $1.4M in additional funding. Senior income tax exemption will be increased in yearly $5,000 increments until it reaches $50,000, currently at $35,000. Governor LePage wants to look at land trusts and if owners are paying taxes on those trusts.  Also, there will be special legislation in September for state Marijuana regulation.
 
7. On the motion of Seely/Perron the meeting adjourned at 7:19PM. All in favor, passed 2-0-1.
