NOTICE OF TAX SALE

The Select Board of the Town of Hollis is accepting bids for the purchase of the municipality’s interest in one tax-acquired property. Each bid must be in writing and in a sealed envelope marked “Tax Sale Bid” on the outside. The outside of each envelope must also include the Map and Lot number of the property for which the bid is being submitted. Each bid must be for one property only; any person wishing to bid on several properties must submit a separate bid for each one. All bids must be received by the Hollis Select Board at 34 Town Farm Road, Hollis, ME 04042, no later than 4:00PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2018. Late bids will not be opened or considered.

Each bid must also include the bidder’s name, mailing address and telephone number and must be accompanied by a deposit in the form of a certified check or money order, in an amount equal to or greater than 20% of the bid price. Each successful bidder’s deposit will be credited to the total purchase price for that parcel. Deposits will be returned to the unsuccessful bidders. Any bid which does not contain the proper deposit will be rejected.

Bids will be opened, reviewed and awarded by the Select Board at the Community Building at 35 Town Farm Road in Hollis on Wednesday, March 20, 2018 at 7:00PM during the Select Board Meeting. The Hollis Select Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Each successful bidder shall have thirty (30) days from the date of the award in which to complete the purchase. Each property will be conveyed by a bill of sale. In the event that a successful bidder fails, for any reason, to complete the purchase in the time stated, the bid acceptance is void and the bidder’s deposit shall be forfeited to the Town. The Select Board may thereafter negotiate a sale of the property with any or all unsuccessful bidders.

The properties for sale are described on the Town’s Tax Maps as: Map 24, Lot 21-T, 72 Nichols Lane, Hollis (mobile home only). The minimum bid for Map 24, Lot 21-T, shall be no less than $100.00.

The tax maps and other public information concerning the property may be reviewed at the Town Hall during its normal business hours, which are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9AM to 4PM and Wednesday 12PM to 8PM.
