MAINEDOT UPDATE: Hollis Rt 202 and Rt 35 Traffic Signal Project

MaineDOT held an on-line virtual public meeting regarding this project in early January.  Several comments and concerns were received regarding left turning vehicles from Route 202 onto Route 35.  MaineDOT has re-evaluated this vehicle movement and has decided to include dedicated left turn lanes with left turn signals.  In order to install these additional lanes, the existing shoulder widths will be narrowed to gain the necessary width for the turn lanes.  The roadway curbing will remain where it currently exists (no roadway widening is needed as the new lanes can be fit within the existing road footprint with narrower shoulders).   However, the project will now include new pavement within the area impacted by the proposed left turn lanes to provide for roadway maintenance and new pavement markings.

As this change is not considered to be significant, MaineDOT will not be holding a follow up virtual meeting but felt it was appropriate to at least make you aware of these changes.  A plan has been placed on the original virtual public meeting website for you to view.  The link to this information is: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/54c21259de684beb83cb5c08eaf56499

As this project has been archived, comments through the virtual public involvement site cannot be submitted.  You will need to send your comments directly to me at gerald.p.dostie@maine.gov.  Thank you for your time and interest in this project.
