Meeting Minutes Select Board Untelevised Meeting

October 12, 2016, 5:00PM

Attendees: Select Board Members Roger Hicks and Mike Seely, Sr.; Bennet Flinner, Paul Froman, Beverly Harris, Vera Littlefield, Nancy Conway.

 

  1. Community Building Update: None

  2. Town Economic Complex Smart Shopper ad: Ad for New Town Complex will be in Smart Shopper to educate the residents as to why we need a new town complex. Approximately $180 for 1/2 page ad- approved on the motion of Seely/Hicks.

  3. Community Closet Update: Opened on 10/11/16. A temporary trailer will be placed to store summer/spring clothing stock so that the store in the building can contain just fall/winter clothing. Permanent shell structure is being built in Cornish and volunteers will have to finish it on site once it's delivered. When it will be delivered is TBD.

  4. Invoice reviews - Committee/Board chairs. Invoices are to be reviewed by all committee/board chairs prior to submitting P.O.s to the SB.

  5. CEO Office Hours: New Office Hours have been established for the CEO's office. Those customers will be serviced when his Clerk is in the office 12-4 Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 4-8 on Wednesdays. Deputy CEO position is on hold at this time.

  6. Town Policies: SB is reviewing all town policies and updating as needed. Once they are all updated they will be available on the town's website.

  7. CPR training: SB will be offering certification for CPR/AED/Pediatrics and babysitting to town employees, residents and non-residents. Ad will be placed in Smart Shopper and on bulletin boards to gauge interest.

  8. Donation: Was received by the Buxton Masonic Lodge for the Veteran's Flags account. This will help place flags at veteran's graves at 50 cemetaries around Hollis. Thank you letter signed and sent by the Select Board.

  9. Roads Update, Sand/Salt Purchase: 2 bids were received for the Snow/Ice Contract. Road committee meeting will be held at 3:00PM tomorrow at the Hollis FD to review the bids. Roger is currently working on a crosswalk for Hollis Elementary School. He is holding off on salt/sand purchase until Snow contract is decided for the Town.

  10. Fire Chief Position: Fire Chief Jason Johnson has resigned from this position and there is a vacancy. Chris Young is the interim Fire Chief until a new one is hired. An annoucement has been placed in the Smart Shopper, MMA  website and Town's website.  Paul Froman commented that he does not feel there will be much response to this annoucement.  The SB is hopeful that there will be a good response. Per the Town's Ordinance, a hiring committee made up of 2 members of the Hollis FD and 2 members of the community will review resumes received, conduct interviews and make recommendations to the SB.  SB will then make the final decision.

  11. Your Country Store fundraiser: Until 12/1/16 YCS will give $1 for every small pizza and $2 for every large pizza sold on Mondays and Tuesdays to support the Hollis Rec Dept. On motion from Seely/Hicks Select Board approved. Bennet will let YCS know and put info on Town's website.

  12. Public Questions and Comments: Public asked about the walking bridge grant for the bridge by Salmon Falls Library on Rt 202. Roger Hicks will look into it and get back to folks.
