Meeting Minutes for Select Board Televised Meeting

1. Meeting opened by Payne at 7:02PM

2. Old Business

a. Community Building Update: Current status of Phase 1 - One bathroom is in use upstairs - to be finished; 1 electrical subpanel has been installed to divide up/down stairs, storage spaces and mechanical room is framed; flooring has been patched temporarily for plumbing folks; back stairwells removed; fire alarm system; To be completed: 2 restrooms downstairs, equipment storage rooms, kitchen and electrical closets will be framed and sheet rocked; mold remediated walls in basement to be sheet rocked. Hope for all work to be completed in the month of January. Phase 2 items and costs are still being reviewed by the committee. Once it is paired down, jobs will go out to bid. 

b. Community Clothing Closet Update: Per Mike Seely, he is playing telephone tag with Poland Spring regarding the new building, but expects it to be completed and delivered soon. 

c. Roads Update: Per Roger, It's Snowing Out! Salt and Sand is available at the back of town hall for residents to use on their walkways and driveways. Roger reports that he and other members of the Road Committee will be attending a training session in Sanford tomorrow for updated Snow/Ice road treatment information.  If there are any complaints about the roads or conditions, please contact Roger.

d. Vacancies for the Budget Committee and Planning Board are still available. One member for each committee. Budget Committee only meets from Mid-January to however long it takes to approve the town's budget.

e. Law Enforcement Statistics: The York County Sherriff's office and State Police has taken action on 668 items in the town of Hollis from Jan. 1-Dec.1 2016.

f. Fire Department Statistics:  The Hollis Fire and Rescue Dept responded to 32 calls in the month of November 2016. Majority were medical transports and accidents.

g. Code Enforcement Office has processed over $37,000 in fees since June 2016.

h. Crosswalk Update: Roger indicated that due to the early winter weather, painting of the crosswalk from the Hollis School to the Municipal Center will be completed by MSAD 6 in the Spring.

3. New Business

a. New Deputy Fire Chief for the Hollis FD is Thomas Hooper. Start date will be 1/1/2017.

b. Neighbors Helping Neighbors:  The Select Board wants to remind residents that there are many elderly in the town that may need help clearing driveways and walkways this winter.  If you want to help, please let the town know so that we may put you on a list to call in case your neighbors need assistance.  

c. Warrant:  week of 11.21.16 $42,530, week of 11.28.16 $17,372, week of 12.5.16 $73,984

    Payroll: week of 11.21.16 $18,548, week of 11.28.16 $9,900, week of 12.5.16 $17,899.

SAND IS AVAILABLE BEHIND TOWN HALL FOR HOLLIS RESIDENTS

HOLLIS CHRISTMAS FUND is accepting donations at the Town Hall and Your Country Store. Please bring in NEW toys, games, sporting goods, hats, mittens, boots and coats or make a monetary donation made payable to Hollis Christmas Fund.  All donations are greatly appreciated. If you are in need to help this Christmas and live in Hollis, please contact the Town Clerk Martha Huff 929-8552 #18.

DOG LICENSE FEES ARE NOW DUE Fees through DECEMBER 31st 2016 for the 2017 YEAR is $6.00 for Spayed/Neutered dog, $11.00 for unspayed/unneutered.

4. Other Business:  

a. WATERBORO TRANSFER STATION REMINDER: Roger wants to remind residents to get their new DUMP PERMIT STICKERS at the Waterboro Transfer Station for $25.00-good all year.  If you bought a dump permit in November, please get your 2017 sticker at the transfer station.

b. MSAD 6 BUDGET ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Roger encourages residents to attend the MSAD 6 budget committee meetings-- they are preparing to present their budget on 12/15/16 at the Central Office at 6:00PM.

c. APPEALS BOARD MEETING: Reminder of an appeals board meeting on 12/8/16 at 6:00PM at the community building. Public is welcome.

6. Public Comments:  From Len VanGaasbeek:  Per ECOMAINE, please do not recycle plastic grocery bags with your loose recyclables. They clog up the sorting machines at the plant and cause issues.  Please recycle them at the grocery store or reuse them at home.
