Minutes for Select Board Meeting

Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023 - 7:00PM at the Hollis Community Building

Attendees:  Select Board members - David McCubrey, John Rogala, and Mary Hoffman; Select Board Office Asst. Bennet Flinner; Camera Operator Ken Knudsen.

1.   Meeting called to order at 7:02pm by McCubrey

2.   Old Business

a. Response from Maine DOT Project Manager, Jerry Dostie re: Traffic Signal Project @ Routes 202 / 4A /35. 40 people have viewed the online public program and 9 comments have been left so far. Please go to their online forum to leave comments or questions.

b. Brookfield Bar Mills Dam Decommissioning - Proposed Study Plan – Info is on our website announcements page. Study suggestions will be taken until today, Jan. 4, 2023. Hoffman indicates that she has requested a meeting with Brookfield for follow up.

c. Animal Control Officer position is still available - If .you are interested, please view the advertisement on our Town website or e-mail resume to Bennet Flinner at adminsecretary@hollismaine.org.

3.   New Business            

a. Junkyard Permit Renewal Application for Trident Auto Sales, Hollis Road - On the motion of Rogala and Hoffman, the Select Board approved the Junkyard/automobile graveyard permit renewal for Trident Auto Sales. Passed 3-0.  Discussion - Per McCubrey there have been no complaints or negative comments made about this property to the Code Enforcement Office nor the Select Board Office.

b. Public Hearing schedule for 403 Hollis Road – Dangerous Building - Tabled until next meeting.

c. Appointments: Registrar of Voters – Martha Huff; Health Officer – Chad Poitras. On the motion of Hoffman and Rogala, the Select Board unanimously appointed Martha Huff as Registrar of Voters. Passed 3-0.  On the motion of Hoffman and Rogala the Select Board unanimously appointed Chad Poitras as Health Officer. Passed 3-0. 

d. Payroll and Warrant Totals: Payroll last week $42,374, Payroll this week $12,018; Warrant last week $94,361, Warrant this week $93,188.

e. Purchase Orders: #4202 to RMDL for Clean up from storm on 12.22 and 12.23 not to exceed $8,600 under highway acct.

f. Correspondence: none 

4.   Other Business

             a. Position Opening – Part-Time Secretary for Planning Board, Appeals Board and Finance Committee. -  Advertisement in Waterboro Reporter and on the Town Website. Please email resume to adminsecretary@hollismaine.org if you are interested. 

             b. Vacancy on Finance Committee (1) - Please e-mail Bennet Flinner at adminsecretary@hollismaine.org if you are interested in joining. Advertisement can be reviewed on the Town website..

             c. Trash & Recycling Reminders – Post Holiday issues. Please break down large boxes for recycling. Please do not put contaminated recyclables in with your recyclables such as styrofoam items, food, ribbons, plastic wrap, as the Town has increased fees for of these items. Put those items in your trash bags. 

             d. Town Pond Use & Ice Safety Reminders:  There is NO ice fishing allowed. For skating, ice should be clear with 4" thickness. No shriner packing. Thank you for your cooperation!

5.   Upcoming Committee and Board Meetings

• There will be a Planning Board meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 11th at 7PM
• There will be a Select Board meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 18th at 7PM.

8.    Adjournment - On the motion of Rogala and Hoffman, the Select Board unanimously adjourned the meeting at 7:23pm
