MINUTES FOR TELEVISED HOLLIS SELECT BOARD PUBLIC AND ZOOM MEETING

Held at the Hollis Community Building on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, 7:00PM

Attendees: Select Board members - David McCubrey, Mary Hoffman; Broadcasters Ken Knudsen, Tiffany Dean; Select Board Office Asst. Bennet Flinner; Chief Chris Young and members of the Hollis Fire Rescue Dept: Ryan Lund, Jerome Senior, Zach Staples, Nick Hegarty, Josh Waterhouse; Special guests: Robert and Jennie Harriman

Absent: Select Board member - John Rogala

1.     Call to Order

2.     Presentation of Commendation Awards to members of the Hollis Fire and Rescue Department by Chief Young, the Hollis Select Board and patient Robert Harriman who suffered a cardiac event in February. Hollis Fire Rescue team members recognized with Challenge Commemorative Coins: Firefighter Ryan Lund, Captain Jerome Senior, Lieutenant Zach Staples, Firefighter Nick Hegarty, Firefighter Josh Waterhouse, and in absentia Lieutenant Nicole DeMarco and Firefighter Corey Boucher.

Maine Medical Center’s Emergency Medical Division also recognized this group including Chief Young for saving Mr. Harriman’s life. The Harriman family is extremely grateful for the efforts of the Hollis Fire and Rescue staff and thanked them for saving their loved one and to the many members of the community for all their support.

3.     Old Business

              a. Muddy Brook Culvert Project – McCubrey announced that the project has been  awarded to Skid Steer Services for $248,400.                

4.     New Business

              a. Appointments –  On the motion of McCubrey and Hoffman, the Select Board appointed Carrie Walker to Board of Appeals; Paul Mattor & Heather Sullivan to the Planning Board; Joanne Toone to the Conservation Commission. Passed 2-0-1. Rogala Absent.

              b. Payroll and Warrant Totals: Payroll last week $12,709, Payroll this week $33,006; Warrant last week $718,717, Warrant this week $47,323.

              c. Purchase Orders: #4013 to RMDL to replace 2 manholes on Forest Lane not to exceed $3,500; #4014 to RMDL for Large pine tree removal and clean up on Sand Pond Road not to exceed $4,000;

               d. Correspondence:   A reminder to please join us for the 2nd Annual Maine Army National Guard Band performance at the Hollis Sports Complex on Wednesday, June 30th. Our concession stand and raffle tables will open at 5:00pm. Proceeds from raffles will be donated towards scholarships for the Summer Rec Program.  Raffle Tickets are 4 for $1.00 and 25 for $5.00. The concert is scheduled to start at 6:30PM.  Please bring your own chair and your Independence Day spirit! We hope you can join us!

5.     Other Business: 

  • Resignations: Tiffany Dean resigned from the position of Parks and Rec Administrative Assistant. Please contact Director Debbie Tefft if you are interested in this position. Tiffany will continue her technical support work in Broadcasting for public meetings.    Tara Michaud has resigned from her position as Treasurer for the Community Day Committee. Any volunteers interested in joining this committee, please contact Debbie Tefft.
  • The Select Board is seeking volunteers and committee members for our Sports Complex Committee and Hollis Community Day Committee.   Our community events would not be possible without the time and commitment from members of our community. Please contact the Select Board or our Parks and Rec Director Debbie Tefft if you are interested.

6.     Upcoming Committee and Board Meetings – All meetings are live, and in person. Public is welcome!

  • There will be a Conservation Commission meeting tomorrow, June 17th at 5:30 at the Community Building.
  • There will be a Sports Complex Committee meeting tomorrow, June 17th at 7:00pm at the Community Building.
  • There will be a Planning Board Site Visit regarding the Point of View Subdivision on Deerwander Road on Wednesday, June 23rd at 5:30 PM.
  • There will be a Televised Planning Board meeting and Public Hearing regarding the Point of View Subdivision on Wednesday, June 23rd at 7PM at the Community Building.
  • There will be a Hollis Community Day Committee meeting on Monday, June 28th at 7pm at the Community Building.
  • There will be a New Town Hall Committee meeting on Tuesday, June 29th at 5:00pm at the Community Building.

7.    Public Comment: None

8.    On the motion of McCubrey and Hoffman, the Select Board adjourned the meeting at 7:18pm. Passed 2-0-1. Rogala Absent
