MINUTES FOR TELEVISED HOLLIS SELECT BOARD MEETING 

July 21, 2021, 7:00PM AT THE COMMUNITY BUILDING

Attendees: Select Board members David McCubrey, John Rogala, Mary Hoffman; Select Board Office Asst. Bennet Flinner; Camera Operator Ken Knudsen; Broadcasting Tech Tiffany Dean.

1.     Meeting called to order by McCubrey at 7:00pm.

2.     Old Business

a. Thank you to Southern Maine Agency on Aging, Poland Spring, Hannaford, and Youth for Meals for helping sponsor the “Meals To-Go” event held on July 12 at the Sports Complex for area senior citizens.

b. Town land listings for sale: Town owned land lots are currently for sale. Proceeds to be placed in account for New Town Hall building and municipality improvements. More information can be found on the Town's website and on the realtor's website www.landinghomesmaine.com. Realtor contact info: Kaitlyn Hall 207-756-2418.

3.     New Business

a.  Select Board Public Hearing announcement for Remote Participation Policy  -  To be held on Aug. 4, 2021 at 7PM at the Community Building.

b.  Policy updates:

  • On the motion of Hoffman and Rogala, the Select Board approved updates to Policy #1 Mileage Reimbursement. Passed 3-0. 
  • On the motion of Hoffman and Rogala, the Select Board approved updates to Policy #5 Winter Storm Closings. Passed 3-0. 
  • On the motion of Hoffman and McCubrey, the Select Board approved updates to Policy #7 Returned Check Policy. Passed 3-0. 
  • On the motion of Hoffman and Rogala, the Select Board approved updates to Policy #9 Town Attorney Access. Passed 3-0. 
  • On the motion of Hoffman and Rogala, the Select Board approved updates to Policy #11 Harrassment and Sexual Harrassment Policy. Passed 3-0. 
  • On the motion of Hoffman and McCubrey, the Select Board approved updates to Policy #13 Driveway Culvert Maintenance. Passed 3-0.
  • On the motion of Hoffman and Rogala, the Select Board approved updates of Policy #15 Request for Information. Passed 3-0.
  • On the motion of Hoffman and McCubrey, the Select Board approved updates to Policy #26, Acceptance of Town Roads. Passed 3-0.
  • On the motion of Hoffman and McCubrey, the Select Board approved updates to Policy #39, Emergency Truck Route. Passed 3-0.
  • On the motion of Hoffman and Rogala, the Select Board rescinded Policy #14 Telephone Answering Procedure. Passed 3-0. Rescinded due to phone network changes-auto attendant allows public to choose extension when calling.  

c.  Approval of meeting minutes – May 5, 2021, June 2, 2021. On the motion of Rogala and Hoffman, the Select Board approved May 5, 2021 minutes 2-0-1 (McCubrey absent). On the motion of Hoffman and McCubrey the Select Board approved June 2, 2021 minutes 2-0-1 (Rogala absent).

d.  Select Board wished Happy Birthday to Tammy Thompson our Administrative Coordinator for Code Enforcement. Thanks for all you do, Tammy!

e.  Payroll and Warrant Totals: Warrant last week $441,112, Warrant this week $132,083; Payroll last week $38,734, Payroll this week $17,994. 

f.   Purchase Orders: #3816 to Sharper Events and Party Rentals for tent, cotton candy machine, photo booth, obstacle course and slide for and under Hollis Community Day, not to exceed $2,454.40; #3815 to Coastal T-shirts for Summer Rec t-shirts, under parks and rec, not to exceed $1,133.01; #3825 to Visa for Community Day advertisement signs under Hollis Community Day, not to exceed $796.05.

g.   Correspondence:    

  • We still have vacancies on our Planning Board, our Sports Complex Committee and Hollis Community Day Committee. For an application, please e-mail our office assistant at adminsecretary@hollismaine.org or call 207-929-2242.      
  • The Hollis Community Day Event “Pirate Fest” will be held on Saturday, August 14th from 8am to 9:30pm at the Hollis Sports Complex. The full event schedule can be found on-line at www.holliscommunityday.com. Enjoy a day of free fun for the whole family!

5.     Upcoming Committee and Board Meetings

  • PLEASE NOTE: Hollis Town Offices will be closing at 11:30AM on THURSDAY, JULY 29, 2021 for mandatory state training held off site. Office hours will resume on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 9am. Re-registrations for vehicles and trailers can be done on-line at www.maine.gov and search for “Rapid Renewal”
  • There will be a Community Day Committee meeting on Monday, July 26th at 7pm. 
  • There will be a Televised Planning Board meeting on Wednesday, July 28th at 7pm.
  • There will be a Community Day Committee meeting on Monday, August 2nd at 7pm.
  • There will be a Televised Select Board meeting and Public Hearing on Wednesday, August 4th at 7pm.

8.    On the motion of Rogala and Hoffman, the Select Board adjourned the meeting at 7:20pm. Passed 3-0.
