MINUTES FOR TELEVISED & ZOOM MEETING – Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, 7:00PM

Attendees: Select Board members - David McCubrey, John Rogala; Town Clerk Martha Huff;  Select Board Asst. Bennet Flinner; Camera Operator Ken Knudsen; Broadcasting Tech Tiffany Dean; Public - Joshua Morse.

Absent: Mary Hoffman, Select Board

1.         Meeting called to order at 7:00pm by McCubrey

2.         Unfinished Business - None

3.         New Business

            a.  Warrant for Dec. 1, 2021 Special Town Meeting - Read by McCubrey. On the motion of Rogala and McCubrey, the Select Board accepted Warrant for 12.1.21 Special Town Meeting. Passed 2-0-1 Hoffman absent.

Discussion: No public hearing and article is to purchase less than 1 acre of land at the landing of the Indian Cellar preservation. Residents must be present to vote at meeting.

            b.  Appointments:  On the motion of Rogala and McCubrey, Select Board appointed Gregg McPherson to the Hollis Planning Board. Passed 2-0-1 Hoffman absent.

            c.  Payroll and Warrant Totals: Warrant last week $433,441, Warrant this week $27,154; Payroll last week $15,977,Payroll this week $33,672.

            d.  Purchase Orders: 

  • #4044 to RMDL for removal of layer of earth and spread reclaim in area where weather building used to be in Hollis FD parking area, under FD not to exceed $2,500.
  • #4068 to Landing Real Estate for earnest money for purchase of Tea House property under Conservation Commission not to exceed $1,000.

            e.  Correspondence:

  • Planning Board Agenda for November 18, 2021, 6:30pm
  • Reminder about Mowing & Landscaping Bid – Due Nov. 24th at Noon. Bid must be mailed or hand delivered to Town Hall. All submitted bids will be opened at the December 1st Select Board meeting. More information is on our website or at Town Hall.
  • A reminder that the Town Hall will be open 9AM to 4PM the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, November 24th. We will not be open late that Wednesday. Town Offices are closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday on November 25th and 26th. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, November 30th.
  • Parks and Rec hold a free knitting group session every Friday evening from 6:30pm to 9:00pm at the Community Building. Ages 16 and up only please, beginners are welcome!
  • Parks and Rec also hold Kindergym sessions for a $2 fee from 10 to 11am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Community Building.
  • Display Registration for Deck the Hauls is now open! The event will take place on Friday, Dec. 3rd at 6pm. Display your decked out vehicle and bring holiday cheer to the Hollis community! Call Parks and Rec for more information or go to their facebook page under “Deck the Hauls”
  • Beginning Wednesday, December 1st, The Southern Maine Agency on Aging and York County Elder Abuse Task Force is hosting Community Café social events for Maine residents over age 60 at the Hollis Center Church. They will be held every first Wednesday of the month. Lunch will be served 12-1pm. To register call 207-985-6121 Extension 1323. Suggested donation for lunch is $8, but any donation helps keeps the program running.

  • There will be a Conservation Commission meeting on Thursday, Nov. 18th at 5:30pm.
  • There will be a Planning Board meeting on Thursday, November 18th at 7pm.
  • There will be a New Town Hall Committee meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 30th at 4:15pm.
  • There will be a Select Board meeting on Wednesday, December 1st at 7pm.
  • There will be a Sports Complex Committee meeting on Thursday, December 2nd at 7pm

6.         Public Comment: Martha Huff, Town Clerk reminded residents to license their dogs, due by 1/1/22 $6 per altered dog, $11 per unaltered dog.  For Community Cafe at the Hollis Center Church, please pre-register for luncheon.
