MINUTES FOR TELEVISED HOLLIS SELECT BOARD MEETING

Wednesday, December 5, 2018, 7:00PM at the Hollis Community Building

Attendees: David McCubrey, Rita Perron, John Rogala, Chris Young, Bennet Flinner, John Sheahan, Bill Burns, Beverly Harris.

1. Meeting called to order by McCubrey at 7:03pm.  Chair McCubrey asked for a moment of silence in memory of President George H.W. Bush.

2. New CPR equipment for Hollis FD:  Chief Young requested $31,000 in TIF funds for specialized CPR equipment for the rescue. He showed a video that demonstrates how the machine can give chest compressions for up to 60 minutes. Can be used while patient is sitting up or laying down. On the motion of Perron and Rogala, the board approved $31,000 TIF funds for specialized CPR equipment. Passed 3-0.

3. Old Business

    a. Roads Update:  None

    b. TIF Informational Meeting December 11, 2018 7:00PM in the Community Building.

4. New Business

    a. Resignations and Appointments:

  • Board received a resignation by Peter Eliot, Trustee of the Salmon Falls Library. The Select Board accepted his resignation and signed a thank you letter for his service and dedication.
  • Board received an application from William Burns for the 5-member Select Board Ordinance Committee. On the motion of Perron and Rogala, the Board accepted and approved the appointment unanimously. Passed 3-0.
  • Board received an application from David Durrell for the New Town Complex Committee. On the motion of Rogala and Perron, the Board accepted and approved the appointment unanimously. Passed 3-0.

    c. Weekly Warrant and Payroll: Warrant last week - $803,868, Warrant this week - $112,525; Payroll last week - $10,112, Payroll this week - $27,688.

    e. Purchase Orders: #3656 to Pleasant Hill Excavation for repair and secure pad approach for Bonny Eagle Road hydrant under Hollis FD Rescue. Not to exceed $2,400; #3657 to Amazon Visa for ID card system under Hollis FD/Rescue. Not to exceed $1,500; #3655 to Fire-End for Butterfly vales for pumpers under Hollis FD/Rescue. Not to exceed $3,500; #3753 to RMDL for hauling of 1000 yards of winter sand under Snow/Ice. Not to exceed $4,000; #3754 to FR Carroll for 1000 yards of winter sand under Snow/Ice. Not to exceed $5,000.

    f. Correspondence

A reminder to Hollis residents that there is WINTER SAND available behind the Town Hall. Limit per household is 2 five-gallon buckets per visit. Sand is not for commercial use.

LIHEAP provides money to eligible homeowners and renters to help cover fuel expenses. In most cases, money is distributed directly to the fuel and utility vendors. To schedule your LIHEAP appointment, please call 324-5762 or 1-800-965-5762 and choose option 1.

Dog license fees are now due for the 2019 calendar year. Fees are $6.00 per neutered or spayed dog, $11.00 per dog capable of producing young. Late fees begin January 1st.  For any questions please contact Town Clerk Martha Huff at 929-8552 x18.

It is that time of year to enroll for the 2019 EMS Subscription Plan. This plan offers Hollis residents emergency transport services to the hospital by our Hollis Fire & Rescue team for an annual fee. To enroll, please visit our website for more info or contact Bennet Flinner at 929-8552 x26..

4.  Other Business: Select Board reminded residents to set up their mailboxes and fences according to state guidelines and not to plow snow across roadways. It is against state law.

Thursday, December 20th - Televised New Town Complex Committee meeting at 7:00pm at the Community Building

No meetings are currently scheduled for the week of Christmas. Town Hall will be closed for the Christmas Holiday and will reopen on December 26th.

6.  Public Comment: Bev Harris asked about the speed sign. McCubrey indicated that the laptop purchased to set it up requires new software to be installed prior to sign use. Once that is completed the sign will be set up.

7.  On the motion of Rogala and Perron the board adjourned the meeting at 7:49pm.
