Town of Hollis Select Board Meeting Minutes

May 11, 2016, 5:00 PM

(Not televised discussion, public welcome)

Present:  Select Board Members: River Payne, Roger Hicks; Administrative Assistant: Bennet Flinner

  1. Speed/Radar Sign:The speed radar signs provided by the Maine DOT will be posted and solar powered, not a trailer as provided in the past.Poland Spring is also obtaining one per Roger’s conversation with Steve Landry. Once they are received, we will be able to identify how they attach/set up and take it from there.

  2. Smoking Policy: Roger has been in contact with Chandra Sinclair regarding municipal information on tobacco-free policies. SB will review and have policy finalized hopefully next week.

  3. Mowing contract:Bob Taylor of Taylor and Sons provided his certificate of liability insurance, we just waiting for worker’s compensation paperwork, which advised will take up to one week. Because the grass is very long and needs attention, SB approves and gives him authorization to begin work as soon as possible.

  4. Employee Health: Roger will reach out to family members of the concerned party.If the family is unable to convince the party to have a full work up by their PCP, then River will address it personally.

  5. New Employee: SB approved the hiring of one new employee for the Parks and Rec Dept and one for the Fire Dept.

  6. York County food rescue – Hollis food pantry: The SB approves the redirection of allocated funds for the York County Food Rescue (defunct) to the Hollis Food Pantry at Hollis Center Baptist Church. Memo sent to Treasurer.

  7. Cyber Policy – River provided drafts of the new cyber/computer use policy to Dave and Roger for review. Will complete and sign policy next week.

  8. Community Closet Committee: SB approved the new committee formed for the Hollis Clothing Closet and approved all applied members.Paperwork given to Martha Huff to appoint and swear in new members.

  9. Long Range Planning and Hollis Fest meetings – Both have meetings planned on 6/7/16 at 6:30 at the community center. Bennet will reach out to the Grays and find out if one will reschedule.

  10. P.O.s Submitted to Treasurer:

#3269 to Bob the Screenprinter for Softball shirts, visors and socks/Parks and Rec. for $1,316.50;

#3271 to Bob the Screenprinter for (10) Sponsor Banners/Parks and Recreation for up to $500.00;

#3348 to Card Services for 1-EMT class at SMCC for Hayden Eilengar/Fire EMS for $718.50;

#3349 to Card Services for plywood for burn room/Fire EMS for up to $550.00.

 

Correspondence

  1. The Bar Mills bridge sidewalk will be CLOSED until further notice. Please avoid using the bridge sidewalk.

  2. Leavitt’s Mill Free Health Center will be having a Spring Fun Run/Walk 5K on May 7, 2016. Register as an individual or a team at www.active.com. Registration begins at 7:30AM, Race Start at 9:00AM.

  3. Goodwill Workforce Solutions (Job Assistance) meet Tuesdays 1pm-4pm at Adult Ed/Parker Farm Road 929.9185

  5. Waterboro Transfer Station – REMINDER - Hollis permits for $25.Cash and Checks only accepted. No credit or debit cards.

  6. Reminder to please have your trash and recycling curbside by 6:00am on your designated pick-up day.96 gallons total trash is acceptable for weekly pick up. (3 - 32 gallon bags or 6 - 13 gallon bags).

  7. New members and volunteers are needed for Hollis Pirate Fest! Please visit the town website www.Hollismaine.org or contact River Payne for additional information.
