MINUTESFOR TELEVISED HOLLIS SELECT BOARD MEETING

Wednesday, May 1, 2019, 7:00PM at the Hollis Community Building

Attendees: David McCubrey, Rita Perron, Jack Rogala, Bennet Flinner, Rita Anderson, Bev Harris, John Paul Rondeau

1. Meeting called to order by McCubrey at 7:02pm.

2. The Select Board sends their condolences to the friends and family of Bud Smith and Lenny Van Gaasbeek, former Select Board members who have passed away.

3. Old Business

      a.  The upcoming Election/Annual Town Meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 and the Public Hearing for the Annual Town Meeting on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 will both be held in the Community Building. Polls will open on June 11th at 7AM and close at 8PM.  The Public Hearing will be held prior to the Select Board meeting on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 7pm.  Absentee ballots are available until June 6, 2019.

      b.  GIS Mapping review:  There will be an informal public review on Friday, May 31st from 10AM-6PM and Saturday June 1st form 8AM-12 Noon. Notice in writing will be sent in 2 weeks. Residents can review the new tax maps of their property and provide any updated survey information for revamping.

      c.  On May 28, 2019 6pm, there will be a Public meeting with Maine DOT regarding Salmon Falls Bridge at the Community Building.  The Select Board encourage residents to attend and give feedback regarding a walkway to be installed on the bridge.

3. New Business

      a.  Purchase Orders: #3779 to RMDL under Highway for grading on Whittens Lane. Not to exceed $2,200; #3780 to George Roberts under Highway for delivery and set up for 2 Jersey barriers at the Town Hall. Not to exceed $2,000; #3781 to RMDL under Highway for ditching work on Ledgewood Drive. Not to exceed $3,000; #3778 to RMDL under Highway for culvert replacement and ditching work on Bear Hill Road. Not to exceed $7,600.

      b.  Warrant and Payroll Totals:  Warrant last week: $34,434, Warrant this week: $66,588.00; Payroll last week: $29,462, Payroll this week: $12,047.

      c.  Correspondence

The Code Enforcement office will be CLOSED this Friday, May 3, 2019. It will reopen next Tuesday, May 7th at 9:00am.

ATV registration fees have gone up.  Maine residents are $45, Non-resident 7-day is $75 and Non-resident Season is $90.

The Hollis Honkers Snowmobile Club will be holding their annual Spring Craft Fair, Luncheon, & Plant Sale on Sunday, May 11th, from 9AM to 3PM at the Buxton - Hollis Rod and Gun Club. Any interested crafters, vendors, or local business please contact the Hollis Honkers at 590-4730.

The Hollis Conservation Commission is planning a 'Trash Pickup - Cleanup Day' on Saturday, May 18th at 9am. If you are interested, please send an email to hollisconservation@gmail.com

4.  Other Business:

      a. Maine State Police: Rogala reports that he spoke to the Maine State Police regarding speeding and other offenses happening in Hollis. He asks that if residents see this happening to please call the State Police or the Select Board so that their patrols can focus on those areas.

     b. Crosswalk Lights: Rogala reports he is currently working with MDOT to get the crosswalk lights installed.

     c. Poland Spring flashing signs: Rogala reports that the Poland Spring signs should no longer be flashing lights. If you see any, please report it to the Select Board.  Poland Spring will be attending a meeting soon for an update, and will be announced once scheduled.

6. Public Comment:  Rita Anderson wanted to thank those who participated in her surprise 90th birthday parties this past week. She was very pleased and surprised by them.

7. Executive Session: none

8. On the motion of Rogala and Perron, the Select Board adjourned the meeting at 7:39pm.  Passed 3-0.
