6. Public Comment:

  • Bev Harris asked why Anna McClay was appointed as Tax Collector at the last Board meeting. McCubrey explained that it was the Town's oversight that the Tax Collector's term was not placed on the ballot this past election.  There may be a November election for the position but it was necessary to appoint her until there is a proper election process. Bev felt that should have been made clear at the last meeting and the Board agreed.
  • Vera Littlefield asked why the New Town complex meetings aren't televised.  McCubrey indicated that most of them are, with the exception of workshops.  Littlefield asked Rogala if he was doodling or bored during meetings - he writes a lot during meetings.  Rogala indicated that he takes notes on what he needs to address after the meetings. He also takes notes regarding feedback given during meetings and encourages it.
  • Dan Yarumian - Spoke to the Select Board as the President of Hollis Honkers - Snowmobile Club. He feels that the taxpayers of the Town should be able to have access to the sports complex parking lots for access to trails.  Rogala suggested the board get together with Dan, members of the complex committee and the ATV club to discuss making a separate parking area for trailers at the complex. Dan agreed and indicated that there are about 30 members in the Hollis Honkers. McCubrey reminded the public that the parking areas on Plains Road and Lower Tarbox were put in place at the sports complex for safety reasons when dropping off children for programs. Because of multiple occurrences of vandalism of buildings, portapotties and other equipment at the complex, no parking signs were placed to keep people not using the complex for programs or events out. Rogala reiterated the importance of a meeting with all clubs to discuss a solution, mainly an additional parking lot.
  • Rita Anderson - Rita reminded the Select Board that snowmobiles can damage the grass at the complex if ridden on before there is enough snow pack. Rita also spoke about putting up no tresspassing signs at her property, but kids still ride their dirt bikes, ATVs and snowmobiles on it.  McCubrey suggested she call the game warden if there is an ongoing issue.

7. Executive Session - None

8. On the motion of Rogala and McCubrey the meeting adjourned at 8:26pm. Passed 2-0-1. (Perron absent).
