AGENDA FOR TELEVISED HOLLIS SELECT BOARD MEETING

Wednesday, August 1, 2018 7:00PM at the Hollis Fire Station, 405 Plains Road, Hollis, ME

Attendees: David McCubrey, Rita Perron, Bennet Flinner, Rita Anderson,Don Marean, John Rondeau, Sherry Estabrook

 

1. Meeting called to order by McCubrey at 7:00PM

2. Old Business

      a. Town Hall Move-Construction Update: The Town Hall building will be CLOSED 8/7/18 – 8/24/18.

Temporary Town offices will be set up next door in the Community Building at 35 Town Farm Road. Tax Assessment cards and Code Enforcement Files will not be available for public review during this time period. Also, there will be no faxes available while Town Hall is closed. Please plan accordingly.      

      b.  Pirate Fest Update - Ecomaine & Poland Spring will have booths set up at the fest on August 11th at the Hollis Sports Complex.  Poland Spring donated $5,000 for the fest--Thank you from the Select Board

      c.  Community Building Phase 2 Update - Perron reports it is almost complete! Rails on steps have been installed, ceiling fans will be installed soon and touch up on items.  Poland Springs filled the water tanks for the sprinkler system - Thank you to Poland Springs!

      d.  Planning Board Vacancy - There is still a vacancy on the Planning Board. Please contact the Select Board for an application if you're interested.

      e. Plowing Contract - On the motion of Perron and McCubrey the board approved the fuel max amendment for RMDL within the Snow/Ice Contract. Passed 2-0.

3. New Business

      a. Appointments - Lori Schopen, Health officer:  Select Board approved and signed appointment papers for Health Office Lori Schopen.

      b. Weekly Warrant and Payroll: Warrant last week-$27,619, Warrant this week-$177,777; Payroll last week-$16,721, Payroll this week-$27,225.

      c. Purchase Orders: #3704 to Iworq for CEO permitting software under the CEO office. Not to exceed $4,600.

      e. Correspondence

THE HOLLIS PIRATE FEST SCHEDULE OF EVENTS IS NOW AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE AND POSTED IN TOWN HALL. PLEASE JOIN US ON SATURDAY, AUG. 11, 2018 AT THE HOLLIS SPORTS COMPLEX FOR FAMILY FUN, FOOD AND FIREWORKS!

PANCAKE BREAKFAST BEGINS AT 8:00AM AND FESTIVITIES WILL RUN ALL DAY UNTIL 9:30PM ENDING WITH A FIREWORKS DISPLAY SPONSORED BY POLAND SPRING.

The Dorcas Society of Buxton & Hollis will be holding DORCAS FEST and a car show on the grounds of the Royal Brewster Mansion on Brewster Lane in Buxton, Maine on August 4, 2018 beginning at 8:00AM. A concert featuring The Mallett Brothers Band at 6:00pm rain or shine. Tickets are $20. 

Food will be available for purchase, but guests are free to bring their own libations but glass is not permitted. A fireworks display sponsored by Narragansett Number One Foundation will follow after dusk.

St. Andre Health Care and Biddeford Adult Education is offering a FREE CNA course that is state approved and grant funded.  All classes and clinicals will be held at St. Andre Health Care at 407 Pool Street in Biddeford. This is a 10-week course scheduled to begin Mid-October. Class is limited to 10 applicants. For more information and to apply, please contact River Payne at rpayne@standre.org or 303-4438.

Buxton/Hollis Historical Society will be holding their Blue Bird Benefit Bash on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 4pm, at 8 Brewster Place in Buxton.  Donations of $25 per person include a social hours on the grounds of the Royal Brewster mansion, a light Summer buffet and an opinion of value of one of your treasures. Please reserve your seat by calling Bev at 929-6495.

4.  Other Business  

     a. State Representative Don Marean - Legislative Update: He continues working on special legislation for marijuana. State of Maine website is a good source of additional information. He encourages Hollis to get an ordinance in place if they want to participate in the collecting of personal property taxes.
