MINUTES FOR SELECT BOARD MEETING

Wednesday, January 17, 2024 - 7:00PM at the Hollis Community Building

Attendees: Select Board members - Mary Hoffman, John Rogala, Roger Hicks; Fire and Rescue Chief Chris Young; Hollis Christmas Fund President Faith Plummer; Camera Operator - Ken Knudsen;

1.   Call to Order - Meeting called to order by Hoffman at 7:00pm

2.   Chris Young, Fire Chief to present recognition award to David Kelley. Will be presented again on March 6th with other important members present.

3.   Faith Plummer, Hollis Christmas Fund Update -  This year, 40 children participated in the program from 19 Hollis families ranging in age from 3 months to 18 years. Each child received warm winter outfits, hats, gloves, shoes and/or boots, winter wear, as well as age-appropriate toys, games, puzzles, books, and gift cards.  Each family was also given a gift card to Hannaford so they could shop for a Christmas dinner. It is through the generosity of our residents that keeps this program going and the Christmas Fund thanks you all for your support. Also thanks to the volunteers hat help make this happen and the "giving tree" sponsors at the Hollis Center Library and River Tap and Grill.

4.   Old Business: 

              a.  Open all Mowing Bids received - Bids were received from Taylor and Sons Property Maintenance and Black Dog Enterprises.Bids will be closely reviewed by the Board to ensure they meet criteria and will be awarded at the next meeting.

              b.  Rescheduled the Public Hearing for Moment’s Peace Farm, LLC for Feb. 7, 2024 at 7PM to review renewals of Cannabis Adult use cultivation and products manufacturing licenses.

5.   New Business          

               a.  Appointments – Joseph Ponzetti to Finance Committee. On the motion of Hoffman and Hicks, the board appointed Joseph Ponzetti to the Finance Committee. Passed 3-0.

               b. Payroll and Warrant Totals - Payroll this week $14,249, Payroll last week $41,543; Warrant this week $112,513, Warrant last week $556,921.

               c.  Purchase Orders:#4338 to United Training Center for EMT basic school for C. Hege under work contract not to exceed $1,500 under FD acct; #4340 to Palmer Spring Company for replacement of Rear Life SPring bushing and check alignment not to exceed $3,000 under FD acct; #4341 to Danny Conger for Fire Rescue annual banquet catering not to exceed $1,680 under FD acct.

               d. Correspondence:

  • A reminder to SNAP recipients who lost food during the December 18th storm, you have until January 18th to apply for benefits to replace lost food. Paper forms are available at local DHHS offices and on-line at their website www.maine.gov/dhhs
  • Andy’s Farm and Garden (formally Andy’s Agway) located at 13 Cole Farm Road in Dayton will hold a rabies vaccination clinic and microchipping clinic for dogs, cats and other small animals on Saturday, January 27th from 10AM to 2PM. Attending vet is Dr. Clair Tusch. Cost is $15 for the rabies vax and $30 for microchipping. Cash only, please.  Dogs must be on leashes, cats and other small animals in carriers.   • MSAD 6 Kindergarten and Pre-K registration for all elementary schools for the 2025 school year will begin on February 1st. To register, please visit their website www.bonnyeagle.org and click on the registration link posted on their home page. For questions please call the school’s Registrar’s office at 929-2326. Please note you cannot register your child at the Hollis School or Hollis Town Hall, it must be done through the Registrar’s office for MSAD 6.
