HOLLIS SPORTS COMPLEX

The Parks and Recreation Department’s needs have grown rapidly over the last couple of decades, and since 1994 we have been able to develop nine acres of land called the Hollis Sports Complex, from a larger parcel that was given to the Town for recreational use. This land currently has two temporary softball fields, a baseball field, a basketball/tennis court, a one-third mile walking path, a small playground, a regulation soccer field, and several smaller soccer fields. The Complex regularly serves about 400 youths through the soccer, softball, and baseball seasons, not including tournaments. An additional fifty children from special programs through the Recreation Department also use this site during the summer months. Since 2011, we have been able to help the traveling soccer team fundraise for families affected by cancer within the MSAD6 community.  The MSAD6 schools system is also able to use this site when their fields are unplayable due to weather conditions, because our fields are well-designed and drain quickly.

The Hollis Sports Complex Committee was created to oversee the development and growth of this community-designated site. Through student and adult volunteers, donations, and fundraising, we have been able to add a snack shack, a recreational building, a pavilion, and two storage sheds. The Hollis Sports Complex Committee is in need of new members!  We need more volunteers to help us plan, implement, and maintain all phases of this facility.  Please join us and become part of the planning. We are in the process of trying to get funding for the proposed expansion at this site.  Land has been cleared for a new parking lot on the Lower Tarbox side. We are hoping to qualify for some grant monies to pay for that. Call the office at 929-5142 for the next meeting date. They are usually the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm. We feel that the Sports Complex has been a positive addition to the Town of Hollis and we are very proud of what we have been able to accomplish!

Baseball, softball, soccer, walking, running, tennis, playground……………Catch us growing!!!
